Finally found a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! to present. I feel these never got a fair shake next to 240's, or Honda's and the like but they clean up in autocross, drag, rally and Bonneville with a .29 c/d.

Your 1G DSM makes over 500hp? Congrats you potentially have a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . If you have an OK stock engine and the turbo from an evo3 you have a reliable, quick spooling 300hp car. People say they are heavy but really how heavy is 2900lbs nowadays? It can easily get down to 2600 just by removing interior pieces. The engine and trans work alone is worth 4.5K but most important the body/ inside is clean, which is rare. Down to the nitty gritty.

Injun :

billet 7 blade holset hx40w with bep .70 t3 turbine housing, erl stainless t3 manifold, custom 3" v-band downpipe 1150cc injectors, busher street fmic, 38mm tial , 3in exhaust stainless mandrel bent turbo back, 2gmas, greddy bov

Engine Management :
Ecmlink v3(a slick management system specific to DSM's), uego 2000 wideband, hallman boost controller

Engine Internals :
bjs cylinder head port, polish, 1mm oversized valves, delta(hks grind) 272's, 4g64 crank(=2.4 liters), wiesco pistons, eagle rods, evo oil squirters,

Drivetrain Modifications:
shep trans, dogbox welded center diff, dogbox shifter, fidanza 2300 pp with act solid 6 puck, DSS 3.5 HD Driveshaft

Suspension Modifications :
rear kyb agx

Only issues I can spot it the rubberized window sill stuff cracking, which looks ugly by can be removed & resprayed. Also there is probably no reason for the bigass tach since its stroked to 2.4 liters.

It obviously has the stock springs but apparently those do great for amatuer rallies and rallyx. Just think...

Hahah hey now crankwalk only happened on a small population of poorly maintained 7 bolt 2nd gen's, as pictured.

1G's are 6 bolt, though some came with 7 bolts but the problem was rare, and even then on a rebuilt 7bolt you likely won't have that problem

Crack pipe crackpipe ENOUGH CRACK TO COVER QUEBEC IN SNOW, SEATBELTS.

Rest of the car? Very nice. Sketchball early 90s automatic shoulder belts? Smokin' crack. Get a harness. Nice racing seats. Then hoon it like it must be hooned.

I got a nice scuff on top of a helmet from launching a Legacy wagon in the air that had these belts.

Nein! Real seatbelts = needed.

Oh man, that brings back some memories... I used to have one of these, a red 1992 Talon TSi. I absolutely loved it.

I didn't have near the amount of work done on mine as this one, but it's a point of pride for me that I did it all myself. It was the car that helped take me from being a basic hobbyist wrench-turner to being competent enough to pull and rebuild an engine; because of my TSi, I went from being moderately interested in cars to really being a gearhead (not to mention it ended up helping me get my my college job at a local garage). I regret the hell out of selling it, cause now even finding one in decent shape is twice what I paid for mine originally about ten years ago.

I owe a lot to that TSi

That's what I'm talking about. It's not like you can take one apart with 3 wenches like a Honda. It is a perfect learners car in the way of power makings, turbo's & even chassis and you can swap in/ out the engine without using a cherry picker

You are right it is the one or 1st engine I would ever consider trying to build myself it is almost as easy as a Honda.

The entire lancer evo3 trans (with taller gears), turbo, faster spooling turbo manifold front & rear clutch type diffs can swap in, along with wheels and big brembo brakes from an Evo 7-9 ...or a 3000GT VR4 if you're cheap. The possibilities for ass kicking are endless. Like most dsmtuners you'll probably find your way back to one, and know in the end it'll be worth it for however long it sits.
